Emersya at JFIG 2025: Optimizing 3D Models for the Web

Emersya attends JFIG 2025 to present our latest research on optimizing 3D models for faster, more immersive and accessible web experiences.

Emersya attends les Journées Françaises de l’Informatique Graphique (JFIG) to present our latest research on optimizing 3D models

From November 3 to 6, 2025, the Journées Françaises de l’Informatique Graphique – JFIG (French Days of Computer Graphics), bring together researchers and professionals from across France working in 3D and 2D visualization. It’s a key annual event for those shaping the future of computer graphics — bridging the gap between academic research and industrial innovation.

This year, a member of our R&D team is attending to explore ideas with the research community, gain new inspiration and share Emersya’s latest work.

Optimizing 3D models for the web

Our PhD candidate Nicolas Luciani (Emersya & LIRMM – Laboratory of Computer Science, Robotics and Microelectronics of Montpellier) is presenting a study focused on:

  • The impact of quadric error metric simplification algorithms on textured, high-definition 3D models.

Behind this scientific title lies a very practical question: how can we make 3D models lighter without sacrificing visual quality?

With real-time 3D, every polygon counts. Every millisecond can decide whether your user stays immersed — or abandons the page altogether.

Turning research into real-world impact

Consumers today expect more than beautiful product images. They want to see, explore and personalize a product before they buy it.

But to make these immersive experiences possible, brands need 3D models that are both lightweight and true to reality and that’s exactly where this research comes in.

This research tackles a challenge that every brand faces today: how to deliver immersive, interactive product experiences that load instantly — no matter the device or connection speed.

Nicolas’ work explores new methods to:

  • Reduce the size of 3D models while maintaining a high level of visual detail;
  • Speed up web rendering for smooth performance on any device or connection;
  • Enhance product perception through accurate, high-fidelity visualization.

The result: faster, more accessible and more impactful 3D experiences — delivering measurable gains in engagement, conversion and customer satisfaction.
